Hey buddies! I'm back again!
(please, let me check for a coffee first)
No coffee at this hour but I took a tea, double tea bag and something very rare that they call "Banana Split CupCake".
Ok! Let's see what happened yesterday in my first day here!
As I wrote yesterday night in my first post, I started and unknown habit of write of my Moleskine all about my needs, wishes and links. My first objective was to have a USA Mobile number. I have and iPhone 6s from my company and I thought the only thing I need was a Prepaid SIM Card.
With this number I could subscribe for some local services and it will be better for generate more confidence with the next services providers.
Checking the prices for a monthly rent-a-car I thought it's not so necessary at the moment. A economic class more than $1,200/mo. I prefer to wait until I'll find my apartment and then I'll re-evaluate the situation.
I started with a review on Google Maps where was the Dalla's Downtown and got ready for my trip.
I discovered DART, a Public Transport network very powerful.
I gone by walk to a Bus Stop near of my hotel. Later I could take a Train to the Downtown. The bus on Saturdays must be planned... I decided not to wait for an hour and started to go to the Train Station by walking.
The first thing I noticed was here aren't pedestrian sidewalks outside of the Downtown. You must discover where to pass with some careful. The second thing is the distances here are longer than you used to see at other europeans cities. And the third under the brides are a lot of people trying to live in their best.
In the Downtown, Dallas answer to the sentence "Everything is Bigger in Dallas". Big Towers, Big Avenues, Bigger Trucks I've ever seen,... everything is bigger with no doubt.
First stop. Verizon's shop in the third corner I found walking by the Downtown and a very kindy boy help me to discriminate my iPhone 6s. Take care of the gods, of the odds and of Movistar. You'll pay a big amount of money for your iPhone but when you try to add an American SIM it says... "No service". But nothing couldn't stop me yesterday, this fantastic guy (I forgot his name) offered me an alternative with a Motorola Phone, number and an Unlimited Data plan for me. That's it! I had an USA Number for my stay here. In the future I'll see what to do with this iPhone.
Meanwhile I was looking for an Apple Store, some Thai or Good looking chinese restaurant, and a supermarket, I discovered a sea of bike sharing companies for all the city. LimeBikes, Ofo and VBike was the first ones I saw. This issue started to open my opportunities.
My first dish was in the Spaghetti Warehouse. After a couple of hours walking around, discovering the crossroads ELM St with Houston St and saw the Daley Sq, at 2:00pm I thought it was enough of reaching the perfect meal. A big & american's looking italian should be enought for me.
I must say I had a fantastic Double Down Chicken Parmesano and a couple of glasses of Diet Coke (they know what Zero Coke is, they saw it, they tasted it but they don't sell it).
This complete meal was enough for the rest of the day... in other country but not here.
I've restarted my walk around for the Downtown but something started to change. All de bars, restaurants, Starbucks... they were closed. and people started to disappear.
I noticed this city has two lives. One in labor days and even in labour hours, and has another very different in weekends and non labour hours. You must check this issue when you plan to visit the Downtown of an American city.
Ok. After three hours walking around I discovered where the zombies screenwriters are inspired on. I'll talk about this issue on day.
For going back to the hotel I decided to travel by train to Love Field Train Station and there could be a good place for my first bike ride. I downloaded three apps to my new mobile but I had tried my favourite bike even the most beautiful is other one.
In Dallas the Bike Sharing strategy is... bikes everywhere. I will talk about this great idea later because is amazing. This is a great idea for carry on to Europe as soon as possible but I need to know more about the Business Model here.
My bike ride was amazing. One stop in the middle of the ride in a Liquor Store. Arrived safe&sound to the hotel.
After resting for a while I started to think all about the day and everything I must learn about this day. Here are my conclusions.
#1 - Dallas is maybe one of the hotest cities I've lived before. I must buy some summer clothes.
#2 - Saturdays aren't for the downtown (at the moment).
#3 - Bike sharing is my salvation.
#4 - My hotel isn't the best placed but is enough for this moment.
#5 - I'm most married than I've though. I miss you so much Asun.
Today is a cloudy day. One Storm alarm has suddenly rang on my new phone and it makes unconfortable for bike rides.
By the way, today is the day for discover how to arrive to work, where is the nearest wallmart and how to buy some precok meals for my aparthotel.
At night I want to search my new apartment. I think I have some idea about the zone but I want to contrast with my colleagues tomorrow at the office.
Ok buds! let's go to the jungle and let's learn something more from my betteres.
See you later or whatever I'll be back here!
And remember what I said yesterday... don't judge me about my english, I'm just a learner!
Salud!
